Job Title: Solar Installation Crew Leader (Full Time)

The PV Installation Crew Leader will be responsible for directly overseeing photovoltaic system installation from beginning to end for residential and small commercial projects. In this position, the PV Installation Crew Leader will: coordinate with the Project Manager and customers, supervise on-site crew members, install all photovoltaic system components and electrical equipment, fill out all system documentation, and ensure successful operation of complete photovoltaic system, while proficiently communicating and updating project status with operations management staff.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Installation of solar equipment considering codes, company standards and best safety practices.

  • General Construction work: using hand tools, measuring, leveling, assembling etc.

  • Commission, diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues using solar system monitoring tools and phone/tablet applications both on and off site.

  • Provide leadership and technical expertise for the installation crew. Competently delegate work amongst crew and resolve potential crew issues.

  • Maintain thorough documentation of system installation including photographs, location diagrams for arrays and equipment, and existing site features. Submit all documentation in a timely manner.

  • Communicate with customers in a professional, considerate, and respectful manner, answering all questions and concerns to the best of your ability or referring questions to the PM.

  • Maintain a neat and orderly jobsite.

  • Follow company vehicle rules and regulations.

Educational, professional and/or other requirements:

  • A minimum of two years’ previous solar installation experienced required

  • Must have electrical and or roofing experience.

  • General construction knowledge to include: roofing, electrical, carpentry skills, general ladder & scaffolding experience.

  • Must be able to work overtime, have flexible hours, and travel to job-sites as necessary.

  • Experience with electrical work involving up to 600 VDC and 240 VAC.

  • A working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), Uniform Building Code (UBC), local & utility jurisdiction requirements.

  • Experience complying with OHSA safety requirements and regulations.

  • Professional appearance and excellent customer service.

  • Great attention to detail.

  • Good Attendance.

  • Maintain valid Driver's License and clean driving record

  • Ability to innovate and improve operations and solve complex problems.

  • Thrive in a team environment.

  • High integrity and energy a must!

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:

  • Must have full range and mobility in upper and lower body; ability to work in various positions & environments, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to lift, pull and push materials and equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds on a frequent basis.

  • Working conditions require being exposed to outdoor weather conditions.

Job Title: Solar Installation Technician (Part Time to Full Time)

 

The Solar installation technician will be responsible for installation and maintenance of residential and small commercial PV installations in the Madison area. This position reports to the solar installation crew leader and operations manager.  Training opportunities are available. The ideal candidate will have a passion for solar and learning the trade.

 

Job Description/Responsibilities

 

  • Reading and understanding layout attachment plans.

  • Working safely and following OSHA guidelines.

  • Installation of structural attachments into rafters on shingle and metal roofs.

  • Squaring and leveling of racking systems.

  • Installation of PV modules onto racking system. 

  • Working with module level electronics (DC optimizers and microinverters), stringing together, and running home runs.

  • Using a Multimeter to test string voltages.

  • Understanding labeling requirements to comply with the NEC.

  • Training opportunities such as NABCEP certification are available and paid for by the company.


 

Qualifications/Prerequisites

  • Must be able and willing to work in all conditions.

  • Must be capable of working with our internal filing system to prepare for each job.

  • Responsible and hardworking with reliable transportation.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Must be comfortable with heights.

  • Experience using basic tools ( tape measure, drills, drivers, sawzall etc)

  • Ideal candidates will have past construction experience.
