Project Support Officer

Job Overview

Midwest Solar Power is looking for a detail oriented project support officer to aid in multiple aspects of the solar design and installation process. This person will handle many day to day office tasks as well as support project managers' needs for technical documentation and paperwork submittal.  The ideal candidate will have a desire to help build company process. The ability to work with minimal supervision with an emphasis on getting tasks done and done right is paramount to this position.  A willingness to adapt to a small business work environment with regularly changing priorities is important. Key Competencies.

  • Working knowledge of excel, word processing, google docs, adobe acrobat, powerpoint, and more.  Computer competency is essential to this position.

  • Excellent people skills in interfacing with internal and external personnel 

  • Ability to to draft construction documents either by hand or in AutoCAD. 

  • Understanding of load analysis and building construction.  Some training is expected.

  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely on the phone with AHJ’s

  • Database/document management skills - very high level of detail required.

  • Ability to track and manage tasks that are in multiple stages of development.

  • Background in engineering or similar is desired but not required if other key competencies can be demonstrated. 2 years of technical school or equivalent is required.

  • Basic understanding of renewable energy systems with a desire to learn more is required.


Roles and Responsibilities.

The Project Support Officer will be responsible for production and submission of permitting materials, initial contact and follow-up with AHJs to identify permitting requirements and ensure permit is received in a timely fashion, Focus on Energy grant submissions, production and submission of utility interconnection documents (PSC 6027 & 6029), keeping both online and in office job boards up to date, and production and mailing of post installation binders to customers.  Receiving shipments via use of a forklift (willing to train) and putting away equipment will be required. Office duties will include purchasing office supplies, answering phones to direct calls and take notes, and keeping the office organized.
